Nerve Conduction Velocity Testing
A nerve conduction velocity test (NCV), is an electrical test that can be used to detect true nerve disorders or muscles affected by nerve injury.
Using electrode patches at various locations on the skin, one electrode stimulates the nerve with a very mild electrical impulse while the second detects the electrical impulse "down stream" from the first.
The space or distance between the electrodes and the time it takes for electrical impulses to travel are used to calculate the speed of the impulse. The resulting electrical activity is recorded, interpreted by our board certified neurologist and generated into a report to aid the doctor in determining nerve disease, damage or destruction.
